As Founder and CEO of January AI, CANOPY Member Noosheen Hashemi harnesses the power of generative AI to bring about a paradigm shift in how people think about their health and predict, prevent, postpone, and manage chronic disease—work that the World Economic Forum honored in 2021 by naming January AI a Technology Pioneer. Half of the adult US population is believed to have diabetes or prediabetes. In the same way ChatGPT uses text input to predict the next sequence of text, January’s generative AI empowers people to know the impact of food before they eat it by predicting blood sugar value, enabling them to make informed decisions for better health outcomes.

003 Spiller Law

Lindsay Spiller’s eclectic law practice covers business, entertainment, and estate planning from locations in Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, and CANOPY Jackson Square in San Francisco. He also keeps coffee hours at a Santa Monica hotel and Cannes Film Festival to maximize efficiency and allow him more downtime to explore by motorcycle. Lindsay’s non-linear career and experiences as a teacher, a sailor, a musician, an entrepreneur, and a sports agent coached by the real-life Jerry Maguire have informed his personal outlook and his professional practice. Morning walks across the Golden Gate Bridge and emphasis on human connection are Lindsay’s community-creating superpowers.

005 Caffeinated Capital

Ironically, Founder and Managing Director Raymond Tonsing drinks the least amount of coffee around here, but “caffeinated” definitely captures his unwavering energy: zipping around in sneakers, plugging away on his laptop in our various spaces, seeking out the most extraordinary early-stage companies at which he can nurture talent and cultivate business acumen. He also runs and bikes more than anyone we know.

006 Le Studio

Karine co-founded Single Family Office, Tamar Capital, with her two brothers in 2016; now, they operate offices in Beirut, London, and San Francisco at CANOPY Jackson Square. As Head of the US office and Venture Capital Investments, she led the exploration of multiple, primarily impact-focused, initiatives across the firm’s VC investment portfolio, spanning various geographies and sectors. In 2020, Karine co-founded Le Studio with Sophie Durey, an in-house Venture Studio as a Service (VSaaS) model for enterprises.

Serial entrepreneur Simone Korsgaard founded her first company at just 19. Five years later—after graduating top of her class at the University of St Andrews with a Master’s in Mathematics with Honours, earning the school’s prestigious Principal’s Medal, and winning multiple national tennis championships—she raised $5 million in pre-seed funding for Radical Health, her San Francisco–based AI startup that delivers free, personalized second-opinion reports to cancer patients, helping them explore the best treatment options with confidence and clarity.

008 kineo finance

Charles “Chuck” Sellman joined the CANOPY community in mid-2022, several months after he became President of kineo finance, a Switzerland-based, globally active financing firm offering venture leasing solutions to young companies placing novel equipment with customers as “hardware-as-a-service” or other pay-per-use, renting or subscription models. Most days, Chuck works out of his private office at CANOPY’s Jackson Square–if you’ve visited this location, there’s a good chance you’ve chatted with Chuck over coffee!
